Another
look at who came out of this weekend smelling of roses and who didn’t.
Winners:
The bottom
half of the table
Three
wins for the bottom half of the table and only one for the top half. Albeit
only one of these wins for the bottom half was against top half opposition but
there were some impressive draws for West Ham and Swansea as well.
Wigan
Two
impressive wins in a row see Roberto Martinez’s men move well clear of the
relegation zone, they will be hoping to stay here.
Manchester
United
In this
section two weeks in a row, United move top, the only team in the top half to
get a win (with West Brom still to play tonight). City and Chelsea draw and
United sit in 1st, you’ve got to feel it will not stay like this for
the next 28 game-weeks.
Paul
Lambert
An
unlikely win away at Sunderland this will help Lambert keep the wolves at bay
having started the season very poorly, probably not for that long though.
Losers:
Man City
and Chelsea
These
are the points you need to win titles. Fortunately for them Manchester United are
not, as Rio Ferdinand put it, in a “purple patch” so the two blue teams might
not have to wait long for United to slip up.
Everton
Should
have seen the game against Fulham out. Admittedly Everton did well to come back
from 1-0 down and Fulham are doing well this season too. However, you’ve got to
feel that of the two, Everton are more likely to be this season’s 4th
spot dark horse and will need to start holding onto these winning positions.
Andre
Villas Boas
Booed
off by the Spurs fans sitting in 5th place with 5 wins from the last
7 seems very harsh. The problem is that AVB was never popular with the
Tottenham faithful, or anyone for that matter, and Daniel Levy (Tottenham
chairman) is not known for his forgiving and patient nature when it comes to
managers.
Me
Bookmakers
making more money off me, only 1 correct prediction out of 9 this weekend... so
far.
